Matthew McConaughey's Biography

Matthew McConaughey was born on November 4, 1969 in Uvalde, Texas. While studying film production at the University of Texas at Austin (B.A. 1993), McConaughey had a chance meeting with the casting director of the movie “Dazed and Confused,” where he landed his first film role, and gained noticed with some good acting and memorable lines. From that first small part he has gone on to become one of Hollywood’s hot hunks, starring in many big productions. His first big break came with the role of Jake Brigance in “A Time to Kill” based on the John Grisham thriller of the same name.

McConaughey’s rugged good looks and hometown boy charm have endeared him to many and has lead to roles in numerous romantic comedies. As a high school senior he was voted most handsome and more recently he was voted by People Magazine as the sexiest man alive in 2005. His 2006 film “Failure to Launch” was a big success at the box office. He can often be seen at football games rooting for his alma mater the Texas Longhorns. McConaughey’s very fit body is often photographed while he’s enjoying his healthy hobbies including surfing, swimming, biking or running. Currently single, he’s known to have dated fellow actors Sandra Bullock, Ashley Judd and Penelope Cruz.
