More Writers Gone from Heroes?

9th Wonders Forums are reporting that Heroes writer Chris Zatta, who worked on last Monday’s episode, “Cold Wars,” has been let go from the show.

There is no official confirmation from NBC as of yet, but a 9th Wonders member reportedly received a note directly from Chris which indicated that he was no longer writing for Heroes.  Here’s the text from that note:

Hey Isa,
Regarding next season, I haven’t heard anything official from NBC either. But the writers have been moving forward with the idea that there will be a Season 4. Hopefully NBC will announce something to confirm it sooner rather than later.

On another point, I am sad to say that I am no longer with Heroes. NBC decided to cut back on the budget for the show and part of that plan involved downsizing on the lower level writers. It’s been wonderful emailing with you this season and hearing the fan reactions, but I will have to put you in touch with someone else on the show for now. For the time being, I think it’s best to give you the email address for Bill Hooper. He’s the script coordinator on the show and he’s been an amazing go-to guy on what’s happening.

Notice, too, that Chris insinuates that he was not the only writer let go as he says “lower level writers.”

Again, I stress that this is not official news.  But if it’s true do you think it is just another sign of a slow economy, or is this related to the press and fan criticism of the show?
